R2 Controls helps Sincor produce synthetic crude oil

Caracas
and Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela
Dec 2000 -- Sincor, www.sincor.com/en,
is in the process of installing more than 2000 inland oil wells and a small
upgrading refinery in Jose to
produce a synthetic crude oil that will likely be shipped out of Puerto la Cruz,
which is nearby Jose. The pictures show Caracas and some of the beautiful
scenery in Venezuela. The refinery is using I/A series DCS system and R2Controls
assisted Foxboro/Invensys for 2 tasks on this project. The first task
was to write a specification for the oil field production facility that would
allow the integration of Plant Information systems and production
Reporting. Working under the direction of Invensys, R2Controls traveled to
Caracas to meet with the Sincor Corporate organization and produce a detailed
specification for this important management subsystem. The second project
was working for Foxboro/Invensys on the implementation of reactor controls for
dedienization, hydrotreater, and hydrocracker reactors on the system staged in
Foxboro, MA. Working with engineering contractor Contrina, from France, R2Controls implemented and tested the reactor control strategies distributed
over 5 CP-60's. Testing involved the use of Cape dynamic simulation
software. www.capesoftware.com
